Social Life Opportunities
Gazi University has a rich variety of facilities for sports activities and these activities can be carried out under the guidance of specialized trainers. There are fully equipped 9 open and 12 indoor sports hall with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, football, volleyball, basketball courts, tennis courts, fitness and aerobic rooms. WiFi connection, which can be used free of charge, can be used all around the settlement and is open to students, academics and administrative staff.
There are almost 40 sports facilities within Gazi University. These facilities are available to personnel and students.
Gazi Sports Center
Gazi sports center has an outdoor pool as well as a twenty-five meter eight-lane semi-Olympic swimming pool and a training pool. In the center, there is an air shooting range and a massage, a sauna and a fitness room.
Gazi University Sports Facilities
Gazi University Sports Complex , inspected by FIFA officials and got ‘certificate of conformity to the FIFA standard’ is the first one to get a certificate in a university settlement. There is a football pitch, as well as four fitness rooms, two squash courts, two sauna rooms, two Turkish baths, male and female locker rooms and shower cabins, and an outdoor basketball and volleyball courts.
Gölbaşı Sports Facilities
‘Sports Facility’ was founded in Gazi University Gölbaşı settlement serves to Gazi wanting to be alone with nature. The facility is a Total of 2500 square meters and consists of Olympic size volleyball, basketball and tennis courts.
Beşevler Sports Facility
The facility, located in the Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty, has floor covering reinforced with appropriate antistatic material appropriate to standard sizes and it has 480 seats,2 male and 2 female locker rooms with a male and female referees dressing rooms and a locker room with internal showers, in addition to two fully equipped sauna and there are also 2 fitness rooms.
Gazi University is also a science and culture center. Many scientific, cultural and social activities are organized at the university throughout the year. Last year, 300 scientific, cultural, and social events were organized at Gazi University. Through these events, sudents are not only informed but also have fun.
Students can spend time doing extracurricular activities at Mavi Ev, Kır Evi, Gölbaşı Social Facilities at the university.
Various events are organized such as proms, and banquets at the Gazi University Cultural Center which is within the Rectorate settlement and has 700 seating capacity. Social facility also features a second hall with a capacity of 50 people, serves a la carte menu served in a stylish and decent environment.
‘Kır Evi’ (County House)is a major social facility of the settlement which is intertwined with nature with its architectural plan and materials used. ‘Kır Evi’ is a showcase of the changing, thriving, beautiful and cheerful face of Gazi University. You can dine by the fireplace, drink coffee and chat.
Gölbaşı Social Facilities
The social facilities provides service not only for Gazi but also for habitants of Ankara as well with its hotel, cafeteria, conference
rooms equipped with the latest technology, sports facilities and with its view of Lake Mogan.
Mediko and Gazi University Medical Faculty Hospital.
Health service is provided to students and personnel and patient examinations are between 9:00- 12:00 in the morning, and between 13:00-16:00 in the afternoon at Gazi Hospital and at the clinic which is a premise of the hospital and is in Rectorship settlement. In the center, there are 57 health personnel in various branches primarily from pediatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, and dermatology. Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit help to solve mental health problems of students and personnel as well as helping people to recognize and develop themselves, improving their ability to communicate, assisting them to be able to adapt to the university environment.
Medicine requirements can be met from the Faculty of Pharmacy Practice Pharmacy, located in the central campus.
Gazi University Central Library
Gazi University Central Library is one of the largest libraries in Turkey with its 11.000 square meters area. It has 1500 seating capacity and 198 personal study cubicles and has a total of 200 internet access areas in different parts of the building.
There is general collection, reference book, periodical, instructional material, dissertation, art collection, Atatürk Library, special collection, audio - visual collection sections within the library.
From the Central Library collection, 225.422 printed, 101 493 electronic books, 78,596 bound periodicals, 46,337 pieces of electronic
journals, 1,163 printed journal, 13,011 pieces of printed master's and doctoral theses, 2,100,000 pieces of foreign dissertations and 5,498 pieces of Gazi University electronic graduate thesis could be accessed. Central Library readers make use of online database with about 200 computers, use subscribed electronic journals, use the internet for scientific purposes, and scan the library catalog via OPAC terminals and readers can also scan Central Library catalogue from their faculties, read subscribed electronic journals, and use the online database without coming to the library.
Also, there are 1.018 audio books and 143 books written in Braille alphabet for visually impaired students.
For the books that are not present in the Central Library collection, books and photocopies of articles are borrowed from domestic and overseas libraries through the ‘Interlibrary Loan’ so materials are provided for the faculty members.
Orientation program is organized for freshmen in order to introduce library services and information resources
every year at the start of the academic year.
Computer and Research Opportunities
Gazi University has quite an advanced information technological infrastructure. There are a total of 11,560 computers at the university. The capacity of a total of 90 computer labs within universities is 2,454 people. Thanks to the advanced Infrastructure, students can instantly access to the latest knowledge and technology.
